What this site is

Tarot Digest is a tool for self-reflection that happens to use tarot cards. We treat the cards as mirrors, not maps. Nothing here predicts the future, and we don't believe it can. The prompts are written to ask you better questions, not to tell you answers.

It's for personal use, and written for humans rather than crawlers. You're welcome to use it as much as you like.

Not professional advice

This is the part we most want you to actually read. Tarot Digest is not professional, medical, or mental-health advice. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not legal or financial advice either. Reflection prompts are written by software and are not a clinician, a counsellor, a lawyer, or an accountant, and they don't know your situation.

Don't use a card to decide whether to take your medication, leave a marriage, quit a job, or sign anything. Those are conversations to have with a professional who can hear the whole story and be accountable for the answer.

If you're in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, please stop reading this site and talk to someone who can help right now. In the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Outside the US, your local emergency number is the right call. We are a journaling tool. We are not equipped to help with that, and we'd rather say so plainly than have you find out at a bad moment.

Your journal is yours

Anything you write here belongs to you. Your entries, your context, your reflections: your words, your copyright, no exceptions. Making an account doesn't give us a licence to publish, sell, or train on what you wrote.

The narrow permission we need is the boring mechanical one: to store your entries, show them back to you, and pass what you type to the AI when you ask for a prompt. That's it, and it exists only to make the feature work. You can take it all with you or delete it from your account page at any time. The Privacy Policy covers the handling in detail.

What we own

The writing on the site, the card interpretations, the guides, the design, and the code are ours. Read them, quote a bit with credit, send links to friends. What we're asking you not to do is copy the card meanings wholesale onto another site or resell them.

The Rider-Waite-Smith card images we use are in the public domain. Pamela Colman Smith drew them in 1909, and she deserves the name in print far more often than she gets it.

Things not to do

• Scrape the site, or run bots and crawlers against it beyond what robots.txt allows.
• Republish the card interpretations or guides as your own.
• Try to reach another user's journal, or poke at the database looking for a way in.
• Work around the rate limits with scripts or piles of throwaway accounts.
• Use the site to break the law or to harass someone.
• Resell access, or wrap it in your own product and charge for it.

Accounts

Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has it. You're responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person, and you need to be 13 or older to have one.

Ending things

You can delete your account whenever you want, no exit interview. We can close an account that's breaking these terms, and we'd normally warn you first unless the problem is serious. If we ever shut the site down, we'll give you notice and a window to export your journal. We won't vanish with your words.

The legal necessities

The site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise it will always be available, that it will be free of errors, or that the AI will write something useful every time. It might be down. It might be wrong.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Tarot Digest and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including any decision you make after reading a card. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you've paid us, which for a free site is nothing.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. If any part of this is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Changes

We'll update the date at the top when these change. Carrying on using the site after that means the new version applies. If a change is a big one, we'll say so rather than hope you don't notice.
