The Devil

The Devil asks you to sit with an uncomfortable truth: the chains you feel might be ones you've stopped noticing you could loosen. Not because you're weak, but because staying has started to feel safer than the unknown of leaving — a job that numbs you, a relationship dynamic you've learned to manage, a story about who you are that's become so familiar it feels like fact.
This card isn't about moral judgment. It's about the difference between being trapped and choosing not to leave. Sometimes that choice makes sense: the cost of departure is real, the stability is needed, the alternative feels riskier. But the Devil invites you to name it honestly — to stop pretending you have no options when part of you knows you do.
Notice where you've become numb to a pattern. Notice what story about yourself you've stopped questioning. Notice the small ways you might be complicit in your own captivity, not out of weakness but out of a calculation you haven't fully admitted.
What would change if you stopped telling yourself this is the only way?
