The Hierophant

The Hierophant asks you to look at the difference between wisdom you've chosen and habits you've inherited without question. Somewhere in your life, a tradition or teaching has genuinely shaped you — a skill passed down, a value that steadies you, a practice that makes sense the more you return to it. But the card also asks: where have you accepted a framework simply because it's always been that way? Blind adherence isn't reverence. Real learning requires you to understand *why* something exists, to test it against your own experience, and to decide whether it still serves you. This doesn't mean rejecting what came before. It means engaging with it consciously, like someone who reads an instruction manual instead of just following it. The Hierophant respects both the wisdom of tradition and your right to scrutinize it. What teaching or structure in your life have you never actually questioned?
